Woof. I’ve been more away than I usually am (which is Pretty Away) because my computer of ~8 odd years finally bit the dust. A friend kindly built a new one for me, and I’m still adjusting to a world where I can do multiple tasks at once. To give you an idea of the rock I just crawled out from under: she was still running a 32-bit OS.
Between all that, I decided to break out some markers I had never used before and play through the Shifting Seasons event over on TWWM. So it goes:
Inner Reflections: Pictured on top. Rhodes is haunted by visions of her past life, which she has made every effort to forget. I talk about this a bit at her tracker, under her Enchantment header.
Environmental Changes: Pictured on the bottom. One of my favorite things about rivers here in the desert is that they’re the only ones who give the rigid “four seasons” model the time of day. Which is to say: all the willows and cottonwoods change color and drop leaves. Few other plants will bother to do that, this time of year.
The four seasons as we tend to think of them– Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter– are typical of, say, deciduous forests further North, but they don’t fully describe all (or even most) climates world-wide. Here in the Sonoran Desert, it’s commonly said that we have five seasons (The monsoon season being the fifth, occurring in what we would consider late summer. The Tohono O’odham calendar is one such model that includes this.) Other models of seasonality exist here, too, organizing the year’s rhythms in all sorts of ways.
Fall Activities: Not pictured; I wrote for this prompt. It’s quick and dirty and overall not my favorite thing in the world, but I’m trying to let loose and play the darn game for once.
