[Long Description: Beannach. She's a huge, elk-like esk with a shaggy russet mane and silvery haunches. Junegrass (Koeleria macrantha) sprouts from her shoulders and mane, while enormous prongs of weathered wood emerge from her head like antlers.]

Beannach, Maoil, The Anbhu, The Onnu, etc.

July 20, 2021

I've been accumulating esk friends since October of last year, but at every turn life happened before I could properly start developing them. Seemed like the world wanted me to take it slow. But now they're here! They got trackers and everything! Nothing can stop me!!!

This is Beannach. Or maybe this is Maoil. Or the Anbhu, the Onnu, An Beannachán, the Terminal Mark, the Horned and Hornless... She has a lot of names! An Beannachán is a ghost of the hunt that's been around longer than the written word. She takes delight in the push-pull reciprocity between all things, and hearkens to the uncharismatic face of death in the natural world that is perhaps forgotten to some of us here in the West. You can read more about her at her tracker.

With great thanks to Fiachmara for helping her come into being-- Much of what you see here would not have been possible without her help!
